Note: The update will delete the existing AVX1 settings.

Below you will find the instructions and files to update the AVX1 to enable Dolby Vision and general enhancements to the PCM architecture:

Please note this is a two-part update containing the same file name, please ensure you follow the steps carefully and if you do not feel comfortable doing these steps please send the unit back to ourselves and we will do the update for you are no charge

First Step:

  1. Unzip the zip file “1. AVX1_Sii9777 Firmware Upgrade.zip”.

Update Step 1:

  • Copy the firmware update file “AVX1.bin” from the "Update Step 1" folder to a USB stick formatted with the Fat32 operating system. Place the file in the main or root directory of the stick. Only the file from the "Update Step 1" folder must be on the USB stick.
  • Plug the USB stick with the firmware update file into the USB port on the back of the AVX1 labelled USB Update.
  • Turn on the AVX1 (with the power switch on the back).
  • When the front panel Standby button stops flashing, press this button to turn on the AVX1.
  • Your AVX1 automatically detects the firmware update and installs it.
  • As soon as the display shows version 1.00.21, the update is completed.
  • Turn off the AVX1 with the power switch on the back and remove the USB stick.

Update Step 2:

  1. Unzip the zip file “2. AVX1_3.1.2 Firmware Upgrade.zip”.
  • Copy the firmware update file “AVX1.bin” from the "Update Step 2" folder to a USB stick formatted with the Fat32 operating system. Place the file in the main or root directory of the stick. Only the file from the "Update Step 2" folder may be on the USB stick.
  • Plug the USB stick with the firmware update file into the USB port on the back of the AVX1 labelled USB Update.
  • Turn on the AVX1 (with the power switch on the back).
  • When the front panel Standby button stops flashing, press this button to turn on the AVX1.
  • Your AVX1 automatically detects the firmware update and installs it.
  • Once the firmware update is complete, the AVX1 will notify you and then start up normally.
  • Turn off the AVX1 and remove the USB flash drive.

 Notes, if there are problems with the update.

- Partially connected devices disturb the update process. You should, therefore, remove all cables except the power cable on the AVX1 and perform the update again.

- When updating it is important that only the “AVX1.bin” file is on the USB stick.

- The USB stick must be formatted with the Fat32 operating system.

- Modern USB sticks often use encryption, which can lead to them not being correctly recognized by the AVX1. In this case, please use a USB stick with a USB2 connection.
